Training, Tools, Templates & Strategies to Accelerate Your Success
The notion of being "self-made" is often celebrated and revered, suggesting that we achieve success solely through our own efforts and abilities.
Bull. I challenge this popular belief.
No one truly becomes successful without the support, guidance, and influence of others. The reality is that there's no such thing as being self-made and it's important to acknowledging the contributions of others on our path to success because when we get stuck, this awareness might have us take the next right step...reaching out for support.
Influence is power. Every person we encounter leaves a mark on our lives, shaping our perspectives, beliefs, and opportunities. We are influenced by family, friends, mentors, teachers, colleagues, and even strangers. Their guidance, support, and insights help us navigate challenges, make better decisions, and discover new possibilities. Acknowledging the influence of others is crucial in dismantling the myth of being self-made.
Many of us got a taste of success stemming from leveraging our networks and building meaningful relationships. This happens because we don't exist in isolation, and our connections play a pivotal role in our growth and accomplishments. Through collaboration, partnerships, and mentorship, we gain access to resources, expertise, and opportunities that propel us forward.
Speaking of mentorship, mentors and role models provide invaluable guidance, wisdom, and inspiration. Their experiences, advice, and support can significantly impact our personal and professional growth. Learning from those who have achieved success in our desired fields helps us navigate challenges, avoid pitfalls, and accelerate our progress. Finding mentors who "get" you will help you be a sponge to all of their experiences and knowledge.
And when you find yourself busy doing the work, remember that success often thrives in collaborative environments. Working alongside others who share similar visions and goals can lead to innovation, collective growth, and expanded opportunities. Building strong teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, and valuing diverse perspectives are essential components of achieving sustained success. Recognize the contributions of your team and celebrate shared accomplishments.
The notion of being self-made is an illusion. Acknowledging and embracing the contributions of others is essential in recognizing the true nature of success.
Take this note from me and use it as a springboard to bring awareness to the interconnectedness of your journey. Those of you who are bold will send a thank you to a distant person who made an extreme impact on where you're sitting right now reading this message.
Keep living a life that outlives you,
