As THE WORKER, you’ve made the decision to move forward with becoming an INFLUENCER and MARKET LEADER in your space and on your topic area. This is where the work begins to gain a depth and breadth of knowledge in your space. Having a deep knowledge of the “body of work” in your topic area is the foundation of everything you create and build moving forward. Too often, people will not do the work and try to call themselves an expert only to be found out that they have no real depth of knowledge or breadth of experience to support it.

Obviously, that’s not you since you’re here and have made the decision to setup and make a difference by becoming THE LEADER in your space.

At this stage, you want to get a clear understanding of those that have been the respected authorities in your area of expertise. You want to be clear on their perspective and how yours adds to or redefines what they are saying. This will allow you to build your expertise on the shoulders of the respected authorities that came before you. This is where you need to do your deep thinking about the topic and to begin the development of your unique thinking on the topic. Your library should have the key writings and trainings in your area and you should’ve gone through it at a deep level (not casually listening but analyzing each piece of it).

Documenting your thinking and the body of work is most important at this stage. You’ll need to begin to sort and organize your thinking so it is understandable and meaningful to those you serve.
